Emma Dymond
CEO
Emma Dymond is Motion Rail’s CEO, exemplifying a remarkable journey from "boots on ballast to the boardroom." Joining the railway industry in 2002 with the support of the Prince’s Trust, Emma completed her fibre optic training and progressed through roles as a maintenance cable jointer, Local Delivery Manager, and IRSE-accredited Tester in Charge before stepping into her current leadership position.
​
Passionate about people, Emma is dedicated to empowerment and providing the skills, tools, and opportunities for development. This commitment led to her founding Motion Reality, the world’s first virtual reality railway. Initially designed for safe, immersive training, Motion Reality evolved under Emma’s vision to bring the railway to classrooms, inspiring and engaging the next generation of industry leaders.

As a role model, Emma champions the belief instilled in her during childhood: that there are no boundaries to what can be achieved, regardless of gender. Her leadership continues to inspire innovation, inclusivity, and growth within the rail industry.​​

Steve Pears
Non-Exec Director
As Motion’s first Non-Executive Director, Steve leverages his vast experience to support the company’s growth and strategic development, ensuring Motion remains at the forefront of the rail industry.

With a career spanning 40 years, prioviously the Managing Director of telents Rail Business Steve has worked within the rail and defence sectors through the evolution of GEC, Marconi, and telent. Specialising in electronic systems, Steve has delivered complex projects including defence systems, electrical control systems, and the first implementation of the GSM-R system on the West Coast Main Line between London and Manchester.

Steve brings extensive expertise in operations, systems design, project delivery, and business development. Passionate about developing people and fostering innovation, he has a proven track record of building strong teams, driving significant business growth, and enhancing profitability.

Jon Sadler
Sales Director
Starting his career as an electrical engineering apprentice at the age of 18, Jon’s passion for engineering propelled him through roles as a design engineer, Project Engineer and Site Manager. Before moving on to technical lead roles in the Railway Telecommunications field as Telecom Tester in Charge (TIC), Persin in charge of Testing (PICOT) and Contractor’s Responsible Engineer (CRE), ultimately leading to his current role.
Leading the company’s growth though building strong customer relationships and delivering tailored solutions across the rail industry. Driven by a passion for end-to-end delivery, Jon excels at overseeing projects from concept through design, build, and entry into service.
Throughout his career, he has contributed to many high-profile projects within the Rail Industry such as Charing Cross and Embankment Asset Stabilisation, Sheffield Re-Signalling and Gospel Oak to Barking Electrification.

Natalie Luckman
Operations Director
Natalie Luckman is Motion’s Operations Director, driving operations and ensuring the seamless delivery of projects across the rail industry. Starting her career in 2007 as a Project Coordinator, Natalie achieved her Prince2 Project Management qualification and advanced to Project Manager before becoming Rail Programme Manager and now Operations Director.
​
With a proven track record of quality delivery, Natalie has built a strong reputation for collaboration and forging lasting customer relationships. She has managed work on several high-profile industry change projects, including Anglia Driver-Only Operation (DOO), Crossrail, SCADA, and the Great Western Electrification program.
​
Passionate about creating efficiencies and exceeding customer expectations, Natalie has introduced innovative processes and lean methodologies that benefit both clients and Motion’s workforce. Her commitment to safety and quality is also evident in her work with Motion Reality, showcasing its potential for training railway workers in safe, immersive environments and driving improvements for stakeholders like Network Rail and the wider supply chain.

Alkis Kardasopoulos
Technical Director
Alkis is Motion’s Technical Director, responsible for the company’s technical direction and the development of engineering capability across all projects.
​
His career began in 2008 as a Telecoms Apprentice and grew through roles as an Installation Technician, I&C Engineer, Lead Tester, Tester in Charge, Person in Charge of Test (PICOT) and Contractor Responsible Engineer (CRE). This progression shaped a broad understanding of telecoms, testing, and project delivery in operational environments.

He manages internal competencies and leads the company’s approach to accreditation, making sure the requirements of RISQS, ISO frameworks, Cyber Essentials and NICEIC are maintained and developed. His remit includes oversight of the business management systems and the direction of Motion’s IT function, bringing these elements together to support safe, reliable and well-governed delivery.​​

Lawrence Port
Commercial Manager
Lawrence is Motion’s Commercial Manager, overseeing all project commercial and financial operations while managing the company’s overall financial position. With a strong background in commercial management, he ensures financial stability, strategic planning, and efficient cost control across the business. His leadership plays a critical role in driving Motion’s financial success and long-term sustainability.
​
Lawrence joined Motion in 2019 as a Quantity Surveyor, bringing his wealth of experience in commercial management to the company. Later that year, he was appointed Financial Director, where he took on greater responsibility for Motion’s financial strategy and commercial oversight. With over 30 years of experience in providing commercial management to both contractor and client organisations in the construction industry, Lawrence has developed an in-depth understanding of financial control, risk management, and contract management within complex infrastructure projects.
​
As a Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS), Lawrence applies his extensive expertise to optimise project financial performance, manage costs, and ensure compliance with industry regulations. His strategic insight enables Motion to navigate financial challenges while driving sustainable growth.

Steve Pearce
Business Development Manager
Steve Pearce is Motion’s Business Development Manager, responsible for driving growth, fostering customer relationships, and expanding Motion’s presence in the rail industry and beyond. Steve leverages his extensive experience and industry insights to identify new opportunities and strengthen client relationships.
​
With over 15 years as a senior member of the telent Rail Management team, Steve served as Programme Director, where he led a business unit delivering over £30m in sales annually and managing a workforce of more than 100 staff across projects and maintenance works nationwide.
​
At telent, Steve played a pivotal role in securing and delivering National Framework Telecommunication Contracts with Network Rail, establishing telent’s national rail presence, particularly in Scotland through the successful delivery of the RETB contract. His leadership extended to high-profile customers, including Network Rail, HS1, major signalling suppliers, train operating companies, Zeyo, Telia Sonera, and CenturyLink (Level 3).
​
Steve also oversaw the maintenance services for CenturyLink’s (Level 3) trackside cable network and led contract renegotiations, achieving significant cost savings for the customer.

Lauren Rogers
Business Manager (Director)
Lauren is Motion’s Business Manager, ensuring the smooth operation of the business by supporting all functions, including administration and finance. Since joining Motion in 2016 as a Jobs Growth Wales apprentice, she has become an integral part of the team, contributing to the company’s daily activities and overall efficiency.
​
Having successfully completed her AAT Accounting Qualifications, Lauren now plays a key role in Motion’s financial operations, handling bookkeeping, payroll, pensions, and financial administration.
​
Beyond finance, Lauren is a central point of coordination within the company, assisting teams across departments and maintaining high operational standards. Her dedication, attention to detail, and proactive approach make her a valuable part of the Motion team.
